3-Ingredient Blackberry Jam

The easiest 3-ingredient blackberry jam ever.

The easiest 3-ingredient blackberry jam recipe ever.

Serves: 4

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes, plus cooling


Ingredients:

  • 1 quart (2 pints) fresh blackberries

  • ¾ cup (150g) sugar

  • ¼ cup (60g) water

  • 1-2 tablespoons (15-30g) lemon juice


Method:

  1. Combine blackberries and sugar in a medium saucepan. Smash the berries using your hands or a fork to break them down and macerate them with the sugar. Add the water and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes or until the liquid is reduced and thickened, stirring occasionally. You can check the thickness by pouring about 1 teaspoon, or 4 grams, on a small plate, and placing it in the fridge for 1 minute. If after one minute it forms a sticky string when rubbed between two fingers, it’s done. 

  2. Once the jam has thickened, stir in the lemon juice to taste.  Pass the jam through a fine-mesh strainer and let it cool completely. Serve and enjoy.

I know, I know, the 42mm Submersible has been around in link some shape or form since 2017 (I reviewed one link as one of my earliest posts for HODINKEE). The story here is not that the Submersible link is 42mm, but rather that Panerai has finally announced a 42mm Submersible in bronze. And boy is it a looker.
